All of it reduces utility for all humans, we need only think of Metcalfe’s law to realise this partitioning of all things networked is slashing the value of it to all humans.
If more people had been paying attention, to some of those “misinformation” channels, we might have seen this coming and acted completely differently. More people would know about, and have paid attention to things like the Asov Battalion for example. Pouring weapons into an ongoing war is like pouring petrol onto a fire, and the war internal to Ukraine, betwee pro and anti Russian militants has gone on since the tragic events of the Maidan.

If we were to liken the sequence so far, to things we remember in our own (UK) history, this would be like the US pouring weapons into the IRA during the troubles in Ireland.

What would we have done? We’d have gone in with massive force to disarm, before anyone could get trained up on the weapons.

Not doing that, would be allowing almost certain Genocide of pro UK Unionists.

Luckily, the US never did pour in weapons to the IRA (much).

But if they had, the UK by now might have become just… Ireland, at an unimaginable cost of precious lives, and energy.
