Alex, identifying, and lamenting that 80% of energy consumed is extracted / fossil fueled, without identifying the other 20% is pretty much what utilities energy business does.
I write, backed by data, and maths, and physics, and systems Engineering, and economics, why this lack of valuing the 20%, is the real physical reason we are seeing inflation.
Failure to correctly identify and value the 20%, which is the portion growing, produces nothing more than an advertisement for the dying world of profit driven supply of extracted energy.
Advertisements, are just part truths, telling only the story of what is intended to be sold, nothing about what life would be like without it.
What is the difference between that, and what you wrote here?
Btw, strictly speaking, thermodynamics only applies to closed systems. The system was indeed closed, whilst we were entirely fuelled by energy extracted from Earth, so the rule that entropy had to always increase did apply.
However, the system was opened, when we started to add energy in from solar.
The fraction of things done by solar, has the opposite effect, in terms of entropy, than the fraction of things done by energy extracted from Earth.
In short, using energy of Earth was destruction, whilst using solar is creation.
Creation is the reverse of increasing entropy.
If we were valuing the 20% correctly and honestly, we might say we are 20% creating, 80% destroying. But if creation wins, as it does in anything born from energy dependence on its mother host, as you once were yourself, it's all creation, no?
